In the role of Law Enforcement Officer, a successful candidate will:

·         Organize, schedule and conduct meetings of staff content experts, as well as keep and maintain an accurate record of the proceedings. 

·         Design data collection mechanisms which may include but not be limited to surveys, interviews, and/or literature surveys.

·         Manage and assist with the collection of required data synthesizing, analyze, and publish data to the work group in a useable format.

·         Author draft reports of work group findings and recommendations and conduct reviews with the work group to develop a final report for submission to the Director based on group consensus while documenting majority and minority positions.

·         Compile data in raw form and in organized formats for analysis.

The ideal candidate would have:

·         10+ years of experience with the management of U.S. domestic fishing operations.  

·         Extensive knowledge of, and experience with Law Enforcement practices as applied in the design, implementation and support of fishery management plans.  

·         Authored and/or directed enforcement strategies aimed at identifying, investigating and appropriately prosecuting identified violations.  

·         Considerable knowledge in the ownership, operation and practices of commercial fishing businesses.

·         A demonstrated ability to encourage, direct and lead a wide ranging and diverse workforce. 

·         Experience with design and use assessment tools in many and varied settings: from the measuring of personnel performance to the calculating of the fishing industry’s compliance with state, federal, and international laws and regulations.

·         Experience writing effective reports in and for the federal government and its partners.

HSE (Safety) Inspector (Fort Greely, AK)

Our HSE (Safety) Inspector job will provide you with the opportunity to live in the Fort Greely/Delta Junction, Alaska area while working on an exciting and large-scale construction project. This position is assigned to our client site with a duration of approximately 2-3 months. Each day you will be a key team member providing onsite HSE services for a construction project. You should be a self-motivated professional with two (2) years experience in construction safety disciplines, experience conducting accident, incident or workplace investigations, a BA/BS degree in Occupational Safety and Health or other related fields of study in Occupational Health, Environmental or Safety Sciences (e.g. Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection, and Environmental Protection), and previous experience working in remote Alaska location.

Our Safety Inspectors:

  • Assist in managing the Safety functions on construction project
  • Plan safety activities on a short and long-term basis taking into consideration company objectives, client�s requirements, project needs, current and proposed safety regulations and construction industry safety developments and practices
  • Identify and develop solutions to potential safety & environmental hazards and noncompliance with safety and environmental policies and regulatory agency standards
  • Plan and conduct evaluations of potentially hazardous conditions
  • Prepare reports for submission to supervisors, primary investigators and/or managers, which identify the potential safety & environmental hazards and/or program discrepancies, and provide recommendations for control and compliance
  • Participate in the development and implementation of strategies, policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, environmental compliance, and minimize safety & environmental risks
  • Interact and advise employees on safety and environmental procedures and policies
  • Communicate with clients and regulatory agencies as a company representative concerning safety and environmental compliance issues
  • Respond to safety & environmental incidents, which may include emergency response to oil or hazardous substance releases, fires, injuries, and other mishaps
  • Participate in and/or lead accident/incident investigations
  • Participate in the development and delivery of safety & environmental training for employees
  • Assist in recording and maintaining pertinent safety documentation. Prepares and distributes safety related reports
  • Evaluate new and existing job sites to identify HSE concerns
  • Possess one or more of the following certifications: Professional certification as an Occupational Health Safety Technologist (OHST), Construction Safety Health Technologist (CHST), or from the Council on Certification of Health, Environmental, and Safety Technologist (CCHEST)

Additional Information: Relocation assistance is not provided, however a per diem allowance will be included with the compensation package. NORCON will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g., H-1B visa, etc) to fill this position.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years in construction safety disciplines or related experience
  • Two (2) years experience conducting accident, incident or workplace investigations
  • Valid driver�s license and the ability to be insured for driving company vehicles (applicants must provide a five year DMV record at the time of application)
  • Possess current knowledge occupational health and safety practices
  • Excellent written and oral communications including public communication skills
  • Knowledge of legal policies and procedures with respect to safety and health issues
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and work at field locations
